Celebrating 30 Years of Healthcare Excellence: M.E.D. Surgical Unveils Brand Refresh
Celebrating three decades of healthcare advancement, M.E.D. Surgical celebrates not just its historical achievements but also embraces a new phase by revealing a refreshed brand identity.

Our Company Journey:
The year 1993 marked the establishment of M.E.D. Surgical, founded by Denis McFerran & Colin Dolan who laid the foundation for future success. At this point the company had the Ecolab (Microtek) agency. Fast forward to 2023, and the company stands tall with a team of 34 experts, complemented by warehousing, logistics, customer service, marketing, HR, finance, QCRA, technical service and IT; all part of the additional services offered by its umbrella brand Uniphar Medtech.
In 1996, M.E.D. Surgical hired its first medical sales rep, Shane McKeever (RIP), expanding beyond its original ownership and setting the stage for future growth and collaborations. Strategic decisions in 1997 led to partnerships with Teleflex and Maquet Agencies, alliances that endure 26 years later, shaping the company's trajectory and commitment to healthcare advancement.
1999 saw the inception of a second specialist division, focusing on infection prevention products for hospitals. This diversification reflected the company's adaptability and foresight in meeting evolving industry needs. A major milestone in 2004 saw the transition to a purpose-built facility in Howth Junction Business Park, marking it’s physical expansion and commitment to growth.
In 2006, M.E.D. Surgical and 4 other medical device distributors, were acquired by the SISK Group, expanding its portfolio, and solidifying its industry position.
The subsequent years witnessed continuous growth and diversification. In 2009, an Ophthalmic Division was established, and between 2010 and 2016, M.E.D. Surgical evolved into a multi-specialty entity with eight divisions.
The year 2018 brought a new chapter as M.E.D. Surgical, under the SISK Healthcare umbrella, was acquired by Uniphar Group, providing additional resources and opportunities for growth. In 2019, the company expanded its support function with a temperature-controlled 36,000 square foot facility.
Notable achievements continued in 2021 when M.E.D. Surgical welcomed its first UK-based team member and again in 2022 when the company achieved €30 million in revenue for the first time in its history - a testament to its market expertise. The year 2022 also marked M.E.D. Surgical’s entry into the Robotic market, showing once again its ability to adapt to the market and embrace cutting-edge technologies.
To celebrate 30 years of success, M.E.D. Surgical marks this event with a brand refresh. The refreshed identity symbolizes the company's evolution to a speciality led business and its commitment to facilitate healthcare advancement.
