Collaborate to Learn in Dublin

M.E.D. Surgical, in partnership with Care Surgical, was delighted to host Collaborate to Learn - The Fundamentals of Patient Positioning in Dublin last week, a dedicated study day focused on the principles of safe and effective patient positioning in the operating theatre.

The event brought together theatre teams from across Ireland for a day of shared learning, open discussion, and hands-on workshops covering patient positioning across a range of surgical procedures. Delegates explored best practice, exchanged real-world experience, and took part in practical demonstrations designed to support theatre teams in their everyday work.

A focus on safe, effective patient positioning

Patient positioning is a critical element of surgical care, with direct implications for patient safety, surgical access, and post-operative outcomes. The study day was designed to equip theatre teams with the knowledge and practical skills needed to position patients confidently and safely across a wide variety of procedures, while also providing a forum to discuss the everyday challenges faced in clinical practice.

Sessions throughout the day were led by an expert faculty including Dr EJ Da Silva, Erich Wächter (Erich Wächter & Kollegen), and Dr John Large, alongside a team of experienced workshop hosts who delivered insightful and practical sessions on the floor.
