M.E.D. Ophthalmic Q2 Newsletter

Advancing Ophthalmic Care Through Innovation, Education & Collaboration 

This has been a busy and successful quarter for M.E.D. Ophthalmic, with opportunities to support clinical education, showcase innovative ophthalmic technologies and connect with healthcare professionals across Ireland and the UK.  

From industry conferences and specialist training sessions to clinical milestones and product demonstrations, the quarter highlighted our continued commitment to improving patient outcomes through innovation and collaboration. 

Supporting Clinical Education & Professional Development 

We were delighted to support a number of educational initiatives, including a successful ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) training session at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust. Bringing together nurses from across the North West, the event provided a valuable opportunity for learning, collaboration and knowledge sharing in this important area of patient care. 

We also joined SEON Vision and the Surrey LOC for an engaging evening focused on discussions around SLT and MIGS treatments. The event generated excellent interaction from attendees, with particular interest in Olleyes and HOYA Surgical Optics technologies and their growing role in modern ophthalmic practice.

Showcasing Innovation at Industry Events 

Throughout Q2, our teams attended several key industry conferences and exhibitions across Ireland and the UK. 

At our very first Clinical Pharmacy Congress, we showcased the Secure Syringe Filler by ROCKMED Vision, highlighting how automation can improve efficiency, accuracy and safety in ophthalmic syringe preparation. The solution also featured at the Hospital Pharmacist Association of Ireland Conference 2026, where delegates learned how it can streamline pharmacy workflows while reducing medication wastage. 

Together with HOYA Surgical Optics, we were proud to participate in events including the Centre for Sight UK 30th Anniversary Conference and SARCS 2026, connecting with ophthalmologists, surgeons and industry leaders while showcasing the latest advancements in ophthalmic technology. 

 At BSRS 2026, we connected with ophthalmic professionals from across the sector and demonstrated a range of innovative technologies designed to support clinical decision-making and improve patient care, including: 

HOYA Surgical Optics premium IOL technology 

Olleyes portable VR-based visual field testing 

MedevPlus IXanner 7vn® portable OCT imaging 

Microclear Medical Apollo Retinal Imaging Systems featuring advanced ultra-widefield retinal imaging 

The strong level of engagement across these events reinforced the growing demand for innovative, accessible technologies that support earlier diagnosis, enhanced clinical workflows and improved patient outcomes. 

Highlights from Ireland 

A key highlight for our Irish team was attending the Irish College of Ophthalmologists Annual Conference 2026, where we showcased EyeMax Mono IOL by SharpView Ophthalmology and discussed its role in helping patients living with dry AMD maximise their remaining vision and maintain greater independence. 

We were also proud to support a significant milestone for ophthalmology in Ireland with the successful completion of the country's first Ophthacath balloon catheter procedure at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital. The minimally invasive FCI Ophthacath system offers an innovative alternative for treating nasolacrimal duct obstruction, and we are delighted to have supported its introduction to the Irish market.
