M.E.D. Surgical Introduces an Innovative Minimally Invasive Treatment for Haemorrhoids to the Irish Market

M.E.D. Surgical are delighted to introduce the FCare Rafaelo procedure to the Irish Market. FCares Rafaelo procedure is a walk-in-walk-out innovative radiofrequency ablation treatment for all grades of haemorrhoids.

What are haemorrhoids?

Haemorrhoids, also called piles, are swollen veins in your anus and lower rectum, similar to varicose veins. Haemorrhoids can develop inside the rectum (internal haemorrhoids) or under the skin around the anus (external haemorrhoids). Nearly three out of four adults will have haemorrhoids from time to time. Haemorrhoids have several causes, but often the cause is unknown.

With Millions of people worldwide suffering from haemorrhoids, the disease has a big impact on the patient's daily life, going from discomfort and shame to painful bleeding and inability to function in later stages. Although traditional techniques can be the cure, they often result in a painful recovery and a long-term return of symptoms. This is where the FCare Rafaelo system can help.

The Rafaelo procedure

Rafaelo is a revolutionary technique using radio frequency that can also be used under local anesthetic. It has been extensively used across the UK and Europe with significant success. The procedure is a specially designed probe allows practitioners to work with good visibility and immediate results. Procedure time is reduced with reduced pain and less post-operative care.

A specially designed probe HPR45i allows practitioners to work quickly with good visibility and immediate result. In combination with the local anesthesia, the procedure time is reduced by 50% making it a rather painless procedure. Post-operative care is reduced to a minimum in most cases.

How it works

The tip of the HPR45i probe is inserted into- and applied onto the haemorrhoid while a radiofrequency signal, coming from the generator, is applied onto the tip. The haemorrhoid is coagulated by radiofrequency-induced heat, which causes the haemorrhoidal tissue to shrink, and a crust is formed over the tissue. The crust will fall off automatically after some time. Recovery time and return to daily activity quicker are greatly reduced compared to other haemorrhoid procedures.

“Where banding can fail and require several applications and where surgery causes such discomfort, The Rafaelo Procedure is the perfect alternative”.

There are numerous advantages of the FCare Rafaelo procedure for the treatment of haemorrhoids not only for patients but also doctors:
