St. John's Hospital Limerick Becomes First in Ireland to Adopt CMR Surgical Versius® Robotic System

St. John's Hospital, Limerick has become the first Module 2 hospital in Ireland to adopt the CMR Surgical Versius® Robotic System. M.E.D. Surgical, as CMR Surgical's distribution partner in Ireland, is proud to have supported this landmark moment for robotic-assisted surgery in the Irish healthcare system.

The launch brings the benefits of robotic minimal access surgery to a significantly broader group of patients across the Mid-West region of Ireland.

What makes Versius special?

The CMR Surgical Versius® Robotic System is a next-generation surgical robot designed to make robotic minimal access surgery more accessible than ever before. Its small, modular, and portable design allows it to move easily between operating rooms, while its fully wristed instruments mimic the natural movement of the human arm, giving surgeons exceptional precision and control.

For surgeons, it offers enhanced dexterity, flexible port placement, improved ergonomics, and access to valuable procedural insights through the Versius digital ecosystem.

For patients, it means smaller incisions, less post-operative pain, lower risk of infection, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery.

This launch marks the beginning of a new chapter for robotic-assisted surgery in Ireland and M.E.D. Surgical remains committed to working with hospital partners and clinicians to expand access to advanced surgical technologies for patients across the country.
